Drawings & Illustrations - Sleeping Beauty's Castle

My biggest love as a child was Disney. Nothing else even came close. The first film I saw was Beauty and the Beast and the first VHS I owned was Sleeping Beauty, I still keep a very large collection of plushes and both me and my brother were lucky enough to have been taken by our parents to Disneyland Paris 3 times before we were 10, so it is fair to say it was a pretty big (and still continuing) infatuation.

I've wanted to expand my portfolio further, moving away from pattern design and into illustration and particularly with my last project, with illustrating buildings and architecture, such as the Nyhavn harbour in Copenhagen and the Finnish dreamhouse to tackle Sleeping Beauty's castle wouldn't be so much a problem. It was a fairly complex but enjoyable construction, taking me right back to my childhoods delight and of course, the first time I laid eyes on the castle.

You can also expect to see a lot more being posted here over the past few days, I've done more new work this week than I ever did with my last project! I have a job interview next week (keep your fingers crossed for me) which requires more graphic and typography elements, something which as a textile design student, I never got to fully experiment with. I also got confirmation from my tutor that I'll be exhibiting at New Designers in London (big relief, out of about 50 girls they're only taking a select few) so if you happen to pass by Stand T76 say hello :)

For Inspiration - Dribbble

It's been a while since I've sourced some inspiration from Dribbble but post University I'm looking to expand my portfolio, stepping away from patterns and slightly more towards illustration.

(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

I'll be back later today with a new illustration I've worked on for the past few days!

Surface & Pattern Design - Swans

Good Morning and greetings to new visitors from #TALKT! Here's something I'd like to share with you :) This was one of my favourite designs (of my favourite animal) that was intended for my University project but because it was far too time consuming there was no way I could follow up a collection of 9, still working in this style, and so, up to this point, I haven't yet shared it. But last week I was approached by Samuel of Mister Dress Up (a t-shirt printing company based in Montreal, Canada which places focus on artist promotion) who asked me to submit a design for production. The swans are now available to buy as a t-shirt, for one week only so please check it out and have a look at all the other artists exhibiting there this week!
