Surface & Pattern Design - Johns Birds

I've been feeling blue lately and the main reason for this is self-doubt and lacking confidence within my own style. The only way to triumph this is to find a new style. I came to the conclusion that my style was too flat and graphic for a textiles student so I needed to add texture and dimension somehow. Digital painting is something I never thought I'd be able to do, I'm quite rubbish when it comes to painting on paper so to do it digitally just seemed a no go. I switched platforms from Adobe Illustrator to Photoshop, downloaded some new tools and brushes and well here you go, say hello to John's birds. Not as time consuming as I'd expected, the best part of two days or so but definitely worth the outcome. I'm not completely finished with this yet so I'll keep you updated :)





And now I feel more belief and confidence in myself which was the main thing for me anyway. I hope you like John's birds too!
